At DW Midwest Training, our mission is to empower professionals through the mastery of non-leading interview techniques. We provide comprehensive, client-centered consulting and training services tailored to the unique needs of each organization. We are proud to support law enforcement, CPS personnel, child advocacy center staff, and members of the judicial system. Our commitment is to deliver high-quality, impactful training that exceeds expectations and strengthens communities.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Dakota. My professional background includes eight years of service as a police officer and deputy, during which I served on the SWAT team, collaborated closely with the narcotics unit, and mentored new officers in the field. Since 2019, I have worked for the State of Michigan in roles including Child Protective Services Investigator and Licensing Consultant with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
In addition to my state service, I am a trainer for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM), where I provide instruction on Michigan’s Forensic Interviewing Protocol to child welfare professionals, CAC interviewers, law enforcement, and prosecutors. I also co-developed a specialized training focused on victim impact, exploring how child welfare and law enforcement practices affect individuals and communities across Michigan.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University and began my career in child welfare as a foster care worker with a private agency in Kent County, West Michigan. In 2014, I joined the State of Michigan as a Services Specialist and have since worked across several programs, including Foster Care, CPS Ongoing, and CPS Investigations. Throughout my tenure, I have also served on multiple subcommittees, including the Child Death Review Team and as a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) representative for the Department.
In addition to my role with the state, I serve as a trainer for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM). My trainings include Michigan’s Forensic Interviewing Protocol, delivered to DHHS staff, CAC interviewers, law enforcement officers, and prosecutors, as well as the Statewide MDT training. I also co-developed a training centered on victim impact, highlighting the ways in which child welfare and law enforcement systems influence the communities we serve.
